2009 Toyota Camry Performance
The 2009 Toyota Camry is available in four distinctive trim levels. They are:
- Base Camry
- LE
- Se and
- XLE.
Each model of the new Camry comes in front-wheel drive. The best thing about Camry is that it offers two powerplant options for the buyers- a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.5-liter V6 engine. The 16-valve 2.4-liter is a standard engine on all Camry trim levels that generates 158 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 161 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. With this engine one can choose either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission, except the XLE models that are available in automatic transmission only. When mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the four-cylinder sedan is rated to return fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. However, the optional five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission also returns the same EPA fuel ratings of 21/31 miles per gallon, with a combined city/highway rating of 25 miles per gallon.
The mid-size sedan is also offered with a 24-valve 3.5-liter V6 engine with a
six-speed automatic transmission only. It generates 268 horsepower and 248
pound-feet of torque at 4700 rpm. Camry with the V6 engine returns EPA fuel economy of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway, with average combined rating of 22 miles per gallon. The top-of-the-line Camry XLE is equipped with the V6 engine mated to the six-speed automatic transmission.
